Global Founding Advisory Board

Help Shape the Future of Understanding Ageing

Understanding Ageing is a new international initiative with an ambitious mission: to improve understanding of ageing, promote healthy ageing throughout life, and bridge the gap between scientific research and everyday life.

We believe that ageing is one of the defining challenges and opportunities of the twenty-first century. Better understanding has the potential to improve health, wellbeing, independence, public policy, healthcare, technology, business and quality of life for millions of people around the world.

As a member of our Global Founding Advisory Board, you will have the opportunity to help shape this vision from the very beginning.

Why a Founding Advisory Board?

Understanding Ageing is currently in its formative stages.

Rather than building the organisation behind closed doors, we are bringing together an international group of respected leaders who are willing to share their experience, expertise and strategic insight as we develop the organisation.

Our Advisory Board will provide independent advice, constructive challenge and diverse perspectives to help ensure that Understanding Ageing develops into a trusted, evidence-informed and internationally recognised organisation.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from experienced leaders across a wide range of disciplines, including:

  • Ageing research
  • Medicine and healthcare
  • Public health
  • Gerontology
  • Biotechnology
  • Digital health
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Health technology
  • Social care
  • Government and policy
  • Academia
  • Innovation
  • Investment
  • Philanthropy
  • Charities and non-profit organisations
  • Industry
  • Communications and media
  • People with significant lived experience of ageing or caring

We believe that better solutions emerge when different disciplines work together.

The Role

  • Share your knowledge and professional experience.
  • Help identify opportunities for collaboration and partnerships.
  • Support the long-term development of Understanding Ageing.

  • Contribute ideas that strengthen our international impact.

This is a strategic advisory role rather than an operational or governance position.

  • Attend four online Advisory Board meetings each year (approximately two hours each).
  • Read Board papers before meetings.

Understanding Ageing

An evidence-based platform dedicated to explaining how and why the body and mind change over time, separating normal biological ageing from disease. The site translates complex scientific research into clear, practical guidance, helping readers understand what is typical, what may require medical attention, and how lifestyle, environment, and genetics interact across the lifespan. With a focus on clarity, credibility, and proportion, it provides structured articles, expert insights, and accessible explanations designed to support informed decision-making rather than fear, stigma, or oversimplification about growing older..
